Dance Company is a performance group designed to give dancers additional opportunities to perform during the year! In other words, more dance recitals!
Dance Company is an audition-based dance group designed to give students a goal to work towards and an opportunity to do more with their dancing! It is a perfect opportunity for the dancer who wants to take their dancing to the next level. Dance Company dancers will get more training and focus on their technique and artistry!

What are the requirements of the Dance Company?
- Attend weekly Dance Company rehearsals. These rehearsals will be built into our class schedule (Mondays-Thursdays), just like our typical classes. It will be an entire time slot designated just to learning and rehearsing our dances for the performances.
- Take at least three hours of dance classes per week.
- Dancers must take at least two of the following styles: Ballet, Contemporary, and Jazz. (All three are strongly recommended to support technical growth and strength development.)
- If a dancer is not enrolled in all three of the above styles, the remaining hour requirement may be fulfilled with Tap, Hip Hop, or Turns and Leaps. (Pre-Pointe, Pointe, and Musical Theater do not count toward the three-hour requirement.)
- Training in a variety of dance styles helps dancers develop the versatility, technique, and performance quality needed for Dance Company productions. Dancers are welcome and encouraged to explore additional styles as well — versatility is a valuable skill to have!
- Be an exemplary student: have great classroom etiquette and a willingness to learn!
When will the Dance Company perform?
- TWO additional dance performances on top of our studio-wide annual Spring Recital!
- One show in December and one show in the spring!
- Additional performance opportunities may arise during the year (like The Bizz or CTYA Dance Festival!)
What is the time commitment like?
The class schedule has Dance Company rehearsals built in like regular classes. Rehearsals will be during our normal weeks, Monday-Thursday, and will be following jazz and contemporary classes. Junior Company will have one rehearsal a week, and Senior Company will have two rehearsals a week.
Rehearsals are an important part of creating a successful and enjoyable experience for everyone, so attendance is required and follows an attendance policy. Dancers may submit excused absence forms, which must be turned in and approved by the deadline. If a dancer misses more than two rehearsals in a semester without an approved absence form, casting adjustments may be made at the Director’s discretion.**
Consistent attendance helps every dancer feel confident, prepared, and connected with their team. Because choreography relies on spacing, timing, partnering, and teamwork, each dancer plays an important role in helping rehearsals run smoothly and supporting the success of the entire group.
We kick off learning our choreography for our winter show during our Marathon Week on August 22-25th*. Details for this week will be discussed in the Student/Parent meeting.
*If you already have plans to be out of town, etc., that is okay! Just communicate by email to Miss Tiffany.
**Being sick and family emergencies are considered excused absences, but please notfiy the Director by email as soon as possible. Other excused absences (like school events) are welcome, as long as the excused absence form has been submitted on time.
What are the Dance Company Fees?
Company Fee
The company fee is $110 per month for the season and will be billed in 8 monthly installments from September through April. This fee helps cover rehearsal time, our teacher’s instruction and choreography, and theater venue expenses.
For each dance show, there will be:
-
A $100 performance fee
-
A $150 costume fee per show (dancers will be in multiple dances, each with their own costume! Dancers will be able to keep some of their costumes)
These fees help support the overall production and performance experience throughout the season, Dance Company will have two additional productions, just for them! I have two performances planned: one in December and one in spring. Any additional performances that may come up (The Bizz, CTYA, etc.) will have no additional costs associated with them, unless there are optional add-ons, like master classes.
Additionally, I will be providing ways dancers can receive financial aid if assistance is needed.
